The AE45JEX is an aerial work platform specifically designed for use in Hazardous Locations where any type of spark could cause an explosion. Typical work environments include munitions preparation, refueling, painting and blasting. Lift equipment requirements are governed by NFPA 505, Fire Safety Standard for Powered Industrial Trucks, NFPA 70, National Electrical Code and UL583-EX, Safety Standard for Electric-Battery Powered Industrial Trucks.
Bailey purchases the base machine from JLG and strips out the entire control system, including upper and lower control boxes, electric motors and the main hydraulic valve. These are replaced with Explosion-Proof motors & enclosures that are Factory Mutual lab-tested. Various Intrinsically-Safe controls are also used that are UL listed compliant with EX standards. The complete machine is then tested for heat and spark compliance by Factory Mutual, which is a Nationally Recognized Testing Lab (NRTL).
The latest machine is heading to the Premier Weapon Systems Readiness Center (Tinker AFB) and will be used in multiple Explosion-Proof environments.
